Big Syke, 2Pac‘s friend collaborator, has passed away at the age of 48. According to TMZ, Syke was found dead at his home in Hawthorne, California last (December 5) night. Law enforcement sources say cops responded to a call to the scene before the L.A. County Coroner arrived.

The rapper had a history of heart issues and obesity and is believed to have died from natural causes. No foul play is suspected but an autopsy has not yet been performed.

Sake had been making music since the 90s with his group Evil Minded Gangstas. He has also released solo albums, including Be Yo’ Self in 1996, Big Syke Daddy in 2001 and Street Commando in 2002. He is also known for his collaborations with 2Pac, including “Check Out Time” and “All Eyes on Me.”

During an interview back in 2009 Syke talked about meeting 2Pac and how it changed his life.

“I met him actually through a guy named Surge,” he said. “And Surge brought him to the hood … Surge use to play my music, so [Tupac] liked my music, so we started hanging out, and after that we became friends, and the next thing you know we were on tour.”
